Virtrex uses WebRTC for video calls and livestreaming. Please note: There is an HLS fallback for livestreams.
WebRTC is an open source technology for bidirectional low-latency communication between devices.
We do understand that many organizations prefer to route their network traffic through a firewall to improve privacy and security. However, for video calls a peer to peer connection is required.
Therefore it is necessary that the following ports are open:
HTTPS Port: 443 (UDP and TCP)
Because our video call service is peer to peer, not having a consistent IP address can cause problems connecting to calls.
If you are in any kind of a VPN or using a proxy, it is most likely that you will experience connection issues for video calls.
We suggest to turn off your VPN or Proxy when having video calls and turn it back on after the calls are finished.
To ensure video calls are in a good quality it is required to have at least the following upload and download rates:
Outbound (upload): 2.0 Mbps
Inbound (download): 2.5 Mbps
For latency, you will want to make sure you are experiencing less than 100 ms on your network for the best experience. Up to 400 ms is acceptable, but not ideal for high-quality conversations.
