Create livestream

How do I embed livestreams?

There are two ways to embed livestreams. You can either broadcast your livestream on panel level in the “Events” section or on your brand page.

Both options have the same framework. If you choose to livestream on panel level, visitors can add the panels to their personal agenda. In addition, panels have the advantage that visitors can access the event area where they are broadcast directly from the “Explore” page of the Expo.

Optimal settings

To create the best possible customer experience, we recommend that you use the following settings in your broadcasting program or with your stream provider:

  • Bitrate: 1500-3000kbps (A high bitrate can cause lags for clients with a slow internet connection. A low bitrate instead will lead to blurred videos.)

  • Keyframe Interval: 2-3 sec (The keyframe interval defines how often the whole stream will be synchronized. A wrong interval will lead to lags in the video.)

  • Output resolution: 720p [1280x720] (As our video stream is optimized for 720p you will receive the best performance with this setup.)

  • CPU utilization preset: medium (The higher the utilization preset is set, the lower the CPU utilization will be.)

  • Profile: baseline (Use this setting to change the encoder parameters for specific content and devices.)

  • Tune: film (The setting is intended for high bitrate/high quality film content. A lower deblocking is used here.)

  • Frames per second (FPS): 25 (For usual recordings like live presentations, product presentations or pre-produced videos a framerate of 25 is your best choice.)

Error sources

Your stream provider is not receiving a video signal. Possible causes:

  • There is a problem with your connected sources.

  • You have not entered the correct server link and stream key in your broadcasting program. (These are provided to you by your selected stream provider.) 

  • You have not yet started your livestream in your broadcasting program.

Your stream provider is receiving a video signal, but it is not displayed in Virtrex. Possible causes: 

  • You have not yet selected the stream provider you are using in Virtrex.

  • The correct server link and stream key or the correct information of your stream provider is not yet entered.

  • Panel level: The start time of the panel has not been reached yet.

  • Brand profile: You forgot to activate the “Start broadcasting” toggle under “Settings” > “Brand Setup”.
